On the river front of the holy Ganga at Kankhal, Haridwar, lies our ashram in serene harmony with nature and away from the maddening and jostling crowds of the city. The Tara Mata's temple at the Kankhal Ashram of Mahananda Mission is the only one of its kind in Haridwar which attracts a large number of pilgrims and pious tourists. The temple complex dotted with century old trees adds to the peace and tranquility of the Ashram. The 600 ft long stretch of the holy river Ganga, forming the eastern boundary, is a major attraction for the devotees and tourists. The peace and tranquility of the environment has given it the appearance of a “Tapovan”
In all there are 27 rooms, 9 rooms in each floor. Each room has its own private balcony overlooking the ganga.
To suit the needs of our esteemed visitors the atithi bhawan is housed in a newly constructed three storied building facing the ganga at Kankhal about 3 km from Haridwar Railway Station, bus terminus and down-town Haridwar. In the immediate vicinity you have a fresh vegetable market, banks / ATMs Post office, couriers cyber cafes and a full fledged hospital. All the important tourist spots are located within easy distance. One may watch the famous Ganga Aarti, ride the ropeway or just go on a shopping spree down the winding lanes at and around Har-Ki-Pouri, the heart of the town and conveniently bring back the tired body and mind at the day's end to peace and tranquility of the Ashram. One can practice yoga or just meditate in the serene atmosphere amidst the fragrance of the flowers, the whispering cool breeze, the murmuring of the river, chirping of the birds. One can also decide to go for a leisurely stroll on the walkway along the river bank in the crisp fresh air. A few dips in the crystal clear Ganga at the Ashram Ghat is highly relaxing and rejuvenating. One may even just watch the glorious sunrise. Indeed, the picture post card view of the graceful movements of the birds in astounding geometric formations, in the twilight sky, back to their nests is a rare and fulfilling experience.
